Heeeey. How’s it going. The family left this morning and I’ve been wasting time on the internet ever since. Well first I got delicious Egg McMuffins at the metro station because they serve breakfast until noon because this is a magical country with a mysteriously functional economy despite stores only being open for five hours a day, six days a week! Jovanna’s in Morocco with her mom for the week and I am so, so alone. Our apartment is pretty creepy when you’re alone in it, but at least I get to sleep in the real-person bed until she gets back. Also it’s a shame that I took my last heated shower for a week this morning. Maybe I’ll just not shower until I get to Duncan’s apartment. Yeeees, this could work. I mean, hippies do it, right? Ugh, no, that’s gross. I don’t want to get bugs and germs all up in my hair. Guess I’ll just have to suck it up and take freezing showers for the next week, boo.
Ugh, so bored. Waiting for pictures to finish uploading which could take hours because David’s good photography inspired me to take more pictures over the weekend than I’d taken during the whole time I’ve been in Barcelona. The visit was really nice. I had to speak in Spanish a lot and I’m definitely getting better. Last week I bought the Spanish translation of “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time” and I can actually get through it. Granted I already read it in English so I know what it’s about, but whatever, still awesome. And yesterday I bought the sixth Harry Potter in Spanish so we’ll see how that goes. It’s called “Harry Potter and the Mystery of the Prince” which is nothing short of infuriating. Why they gotta go and change it? We’ll see if they use “The Prince” in place of “The Half-Blood Prince” throughout the book.
Here, some lists because lists are fun and make you feel like you’re doing work when really you’re just typing stupid thoughts as they occur to you. First, things I am going to do this week:
- Practice the flute because my parents brought it and I don’t want to forget how to play it now that I’m in the real world.
- Maybe try playing the flute on the street if I feel motivated/unsucky enough. I don’t know, we’ll see how that one goes.
- Meet with a language partner every day and ask them to teach me more delightful phrases along the lines of crying like a muffin.
- Go running every day because while my family was here I rediscovered my love of the Spanish Omelette, which is just egg and delicious mushy starchy potatoes and I think I might go get me one after my pictures finish uploading. Also a hot chocolate. Have I told you about the hot chocolate here? How it’s the best thing? In the world? Well it is. You better get yourself to Spain and try a hot chocolate. Or you could just go make some chocolate Jello pudding and heat it up and put it in a teacup and pretend it’s a legitimate drink that deserves to be in the same section of the menu as coffee. What a truly magical country this is.
- Finish reading JPod, though this is less of a goal and more of something that’s probably going to happen later today because it is so good and I am so bored. Although it’s making me none too excited about working with computers, but I’m pretty sure Google is amazing and nothing like computer game companies. They have a games pit! That’s gotta count for something, right? We’ll see. But I bet yes.
- Write a blog entry every day. And not just write one blog entry at the rate of a paragraph a day, as has been my usual way of doing things lately, which is lame. There are a ton of pictures to write about so I think it can be done.
- Read a chapter of Harry Potter every day and write down the things I don’t understand.
- Wash clothes. Hopefully not in the sink, but probably in the sink.
Okay, now I’m bored with list-making. Nurrr! Sweet sassy molassey, the pictures just finished! I’ll make a couple of them public and then get m’self a carbey omelette and then go home and go for a run and then take a freezing cold shower and then read and go to bed! Because you really needed to know exactly how I’m going to spend the rest of my day. It’s IMPORTANT.
