Picture Explosion Part Five
Still can’t believe I spent five hours on the internet last night and still only managed to caption a paltry few pictures. Hopefully today goes better. But first, let’s all take a moment to give thanks that the hot water in our apartment finally started working! Just in time for us to leave in a couple days! Yaay! Hate our landlady so much. But wheeee, hot showers without boiling cauldrons of water in manner of Victorian-era servants! Okay, pictures:
A tree! Under which Shakespeare used to play as a little boy. Or something. I don’t know.
Some ivy! Yup.
Ye Olde Shakespeare Hostele.
Durrr, have forgotten what this pub was called and what is interesting about it, but I know there is something interesting about it. I think it’s owned by the same family that established Harvard? So there’s an American flag over the door. We learned about it on a walking tour of Stratford-Upon-Avon but it’s gone from my sieve-like brain.
Some wood! Yay!
More wood! M’favorite!
Annnd a window. Yeah I know, dur.
Tottenham Court Road tube station stairs! I had this grand idea to go on a Harry Potter tour all around London but it turns out people who live in London aren’t all that interested in Kings Cross Station and Tottenham Court Road because they’re just like, a train station and a street. But I was like eff that, it’s Harry Potter! But then it turns out they’re just a train station and a street. Also Grimmauld Place doesn’t exist. Lame!
Some umm, some colorful buildings. Yar.
A treeee! This was the first time I’d seen leaves changing in five years! Which is a pretty long time to not see leaves change. It was pretty magical but then I got used to it and then that was depressing. Like they showed this video one day at Pixar about a guy in New York who got spontaneous amnesia and forgot literally everything that had happened to him in his whole life and it was pretty sad because he forgot his whole family but the one neat thing was that he was like a baby who had never experienced anything like the ocean or strawberries or songs by The Rolling Stones so he got to go out and see the world with whole new eyes! Kind of jealous, but not about the forgetting everyone you know part. Still kind of jealous that he had been a ruthless investment banker before so he was totally loaded with a sweet apartment in New York and now he was all relaxed and not at all investment bankery so he could actually enjoy his life.
I never know how to take the kind of picture that has lots of things in it instead of being like, a flower or something but I thought I’d give it a go.
Buttons! At the Portobello Market, which is fun to walk around but depressing at the same time because the value of the dollar is going down the toilet but the buying power of the pound is the same as that of the dollar so people in England think the prices are just fine and I have to get all snarky because a meal at McDonald’s is like, fifteen dollars. Whine whine whine. But soon I won’t be living off of savings anymore so that will be fun!
Portobello M ket! Yay.
Yup, it’s some grapes.
Annnd cauliflower.
Annnnd limes. Limes and lemons have the same word in Spanish. It’s limón. Hur de dur dur.
And peppers! Peppers are called capsicum in Australia and New Zealand. How bizarre.
And octopus! Gross!
Some ummm, liney things on the wall of an underpass in the Portobello Market. Yup.
Said underpass. With neat pictures. Yup.
Some little capsicums!
Nice plums!
Another tree! Yay.
Okay, the sun’s going down and I have yet to do anything with my day so I’m gonna make a move. Venice in one week! O I am so excited.
