Sweet sassy molassey, I do love wasting time on the internet!
So it’s been over two hours since I got on the internet and I have nary a blog entry to show for it. I’m going to try and make it to Bruges today, but seeing as how it’s already 3:30 in the afternoon and I’m pretty sure train rides take like ten times as long as I’d thought, I’ll probably end up taking a night train to Brussels (which Noaa said is totally worth skipping) and then go to Bruges in the morning. And then I am going to go to London for my birthday the day after that! So I can hang out with Duncan instead of going to a skeazy bar and drowning my lonely sorrows and dying of alcohol poisoning. Just kidding, Mom and Dad! I don’t even like drinking, ask anyone at school. (Note to people at school: this is not an invitation to write a million comments about how much I loves me the alcohol.)
But more importantly, hopefully when I’m in London I can get caught up in a web of lies and cheating just like in “Closer”! I call being Natalie Portman’s character. But seriously, what a depressing movie. Don’t waste your time, especially if you’re thinking about seeing the play because (spoiler coming up!) Natalie Portman’s character DIES in the end! What the hell! She’s the only likeable character and they just KILL her. What kind of message does that send to the children? That not cheating on your boyfriend kills you, that’s what kind.
So let’s do a brief overview of Paris. Worst parts: how apparently it’s a requirement to speak fluent French before you visit France because whenever you ask people (in pretty okay French, mind you!) if they speak English, they act completely put upon and it’s like, jeebus, I’m sorry I don’t speak twenty different languages! Also bad: the pigeons are completely brazen and annoying, but less so when you imagine they have snooty French accents and say dumb things. Best parts: the fooood! Even though I don’t eat meat and sometimes I’m afraid of asking if things have meat because I don’t want to get an exasperated look for not knowing French, the food is still completely freaking amazing. Mostly the nutella banana crepes. Mmmm, gotta remember to get another one of those before I leave. Also awesome: sometimes women have voices like Amelie and then it’s like you’re talking to AMELIE! Heart heart heart. On Monday I went to Montmartre and then the Amelie soundtrack came on my iPod and I ran all around doing nice things for strangers, which is all true except for the last part.
So yeah, Paris is really pretty. Just as adorably French as I’d hoped! A lot of the time it feels like I’m inside a Playmobil Victorian-era dollhouse. Oh Playmobil, you were the best. Okay, enough with the rambling, let’s rustle us up some pictures.
This is the view of the Sacre Coeur (oh man, I am going to have such a hard time not misspelling every single French word in this entry), which is on top of Montmartre, from the Musee d’Orsay. Just don’t ask me to say that sentence out loud.
These are the stairs to the crypts in the Pantheon, where such famous people as Marie Curie and Victor Hugo are buried! Also Voltaire and Rousseau, but I had to Google “Pantheon” to remember their names. Shows you how much history I retained from high school!
This is a stained glass window from the Notre Dame, which holds a special place in my heart because it’s the first visible thing I worked on that was in Ratatouille. Hey I know, why don’t I talk about Ratatouille so much that everyone wants to stab me! Okay!
And this is the Notre Dame at night time. I bet you thought I was joking about never shutting up about Ratatouille, but you were so wrong.
These are some flowers from Le Jardin des Tuileries, which is a pretty garden next to the Louvre.
This is a pyramid from the Louvre. Which I didn’t go in because I thought it was closed on Monday but it’s actually closed on Tuesday. Durr! It’s okay, now I have a reason to come back to Paris.
The Arc de Triomphe! Noaa has a picture like this on her phone that I really like.
A cool guy in the park who made friends with the birds! Like Snow White but a guy.
And finally, some more childish humor! I like this picture because the statues all like “I’m trapped in a glass case of emotion!” and the bird’s all like “Haw, yer head’s gettin’ sat on.”

« I'm in Kyoto, being super stressed out about how to get back to the Tokyo airport!» I'm in Salzburg, being unable to stop thinking about Sound of Music songs!
When I saw Closer, not only didn’t Natalie Portman die, she pretty much won the movie, if such a movie can be “won.” Maybe I was watching the watered-down American version? Or maybe you’re thinking of another movie — The Passion of the Christ, maybe?

Here is the end of what wikipedia says about Closer:
In the end, Alice (Natalie Portman)returns to New York. Passing through the immigration checkpoint on her way back into the United States, it is revealed through a shot of her passport that her real name is indeed Jane Rachel Jones and that she had lied about her name for the duration of her four-year relationship with Dan.
Back in London, Dan returns to Postman’s Park, and to his surprise, notices the name “Alice Ayres” on a plaque that is dedicated to a girl, “who by intrepid conduct,” and at the cost of her young life, saved three children. The last scene shows Alice/Jane walking towards West 47th Street, in Manhattan, where passers-by are turning their heads staring at her; a scene symmetrical with the opening scene, where Alice/Jane and Dan are staring at eachother on the streets of London.
Be that as it may, if you want to read a real train wreck of a plot – look at the entire entry.

Didn’t think you were leaving Paris so soon, especially since we planned a little song for you in French and we don’t want it to go to waste. So here it is.

Screw programming, you should be a professional photographer.
Hope you’re having an awesome birthday!

Sweet pictures, I especially like the first one, through the clock… that’s just profound. I love Paris, and all of Europe really, wish I was there, but I hope you enjoy wherever you are on your BIRTHDAY! Happy birthday!
